What You Will Need

Before we create our toilet paper roll bear, let’s gather all the supplies we’ll need:

  • A clean toilet paper roll
  • Brown construction paper
  • Scissors (with adult supervision, of course)
  • Glue stick or craft glue
  • Black and white markers or paint
  • Googly eyes (optional, but super cute!)
  • Colored pencils, markers, or crayons for additional details

Step 1: Cover the TP Roll

The first step in creating our bear is to cover the toilet paper roll with brown construction paper. Measure and cut a piece of brown construction paper that’s long enough to wrap around the toilet paper roll. Use your glue stick or craft glue to apply a thin layer of glue to the backside of the construction paper, then carefully wrap it around the roll. Press down gently to make sure it adheres well.

Step 2: Cutting Out the Ears

To make our bear’s ears, fold a piece of brown construction paper in half. Draw an ear shape along the folded edge, making it about 2 inches tall. Cut along the lines, making sure to keep the folded edge intact. When you unfold the paper, you should have two identical ear shapes. Attach them to the top of the toilet paper roll, near the back, using glue. Our bear’s starting to take shape!

Step 3: Adding Eyes, Nose, and Mouth

It’s time to give our bear some facial features! Take your black marker or paint and draw two small eyes on the front of the toilet paper roll. You can also use googly eyes for a more animated look.

Next, draw a small black oval-shaped nose beneath the eyes. Finish off the face by drawing a sweet smiley mouth using your black marker or paint. This bear is turning into a real cutie!

Step 4: Making Arms and Legs

Our bear needs some arms and legs to be able to play and give hugs! Cut four thin strips of brown construction paper, about 2 inches long, for the arms and legs. Attach two strips vertically to the sides of the toilet paper roll using glue. These will be the bear’s arms.

Then, attach the remaining two strips horizontally to the bottom of the toilet paper roll for the legs. Fold the strips a little at the ends to create paws. Glue them securely in place. Our bear is ready to start exploring!

Step 5: Personalizing Your Bear

Now it’s time to add some special touches and make your bear uniquely yours! Use colored pencils, markers, or crayons to add extra details like rosy cheeks, patches, or fun patterns on your bear’s body. Get creative and make your bear as colorful and playful as you’d like.

Remember, this is your chance to let your imagination run wild!

Step 6: Display and Share Your Bear Friend

Find a special spot to display your bear, whether it’s on a shelf, on your desk, or as part of a cute centerpiece. Share your creation with your friends and family, and witness their admiration for your bear-making skills. You can even make a whole family of bears and have your very own bear clan!
