Directions For Tissue Flower Number Art

Making tissue flower number art is not only a great opportunity to bond with your kids, but it also helps them develop their artistic skills. The end result will make for an incredible decoration in your home or classroom or birthday party!

In this blog post, I will guide you through the step-by-step process of creating these vibrant tissue flower numbers. So grab your scissors, gather some colorful tissue paper, and let’s embark on a journey of artistic numeracy together!

What You Will Need

Before we begin our craft adventure, let’s gather the materials needed to make our Tissue Flower Number:

  • Stiff cardboard paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Colored tissue paper
  • Craft glue
  • Staples
  • Optional: Ribbon or string for hanging

Step 1: Trace a Number on Stiff Cardboard Paper

To start, take the stiff cardboard paper and choose the number you’d like to create. It could be your age, a special year, or any meaningful number. If you don’t have pre-made number stencils, ask an adult to help you trace the shape of the number onto the cardboard using a pencil.

Make sure the number is big enough to allow space for the tissue flower decorations. Once traced, carefully cut out the number shape using scissors. Remember to be cautious and ask for adult supervision when using scissors.

Step 2: Make a Bow from Paper and Staples

Now, we’ll create some bows to add a touch of charm to our Tissue Flower Number. Take a piece of colored tissue paper and cut a strip approximately three inches wide and eight inches long. Fold the strip in half, lengthwise, so it is now four inches wide and four inches long.

Next, use your fingers to squeeze the middle of the folded strip, creating a bow-like shape. While holding it firmly in place, secure the middle of the bow with a staple. Repeat this process to create several bows in different colors.

Step 3: Spread Out the Bows

Once you have created several tissue paper bows, it’s time to give them a fuller appearance. Hold each bow at the center and gently separate the layers, fluffing them out to create a blossoming effect. The more you spread out the layers, the more voluminous the bow will look.

Don’t worry if it’s not perfect; the charm of the tissue flower lies in its natural and whimsical appearance.

Step 4: Glue Bows to the Number

Now, let’s attach our lovely tissue paper bows to the cardboard number. Apply a small amount of craft glue to the back of a bow and position it on the cardboard number. Press down gently to secure it in place. Repeat this step with the remaining bows, spacing them evenly across the number’s surface.

Be creative with your color choices and placement, mixing different shades and patterns to create an eye-catching arrangement. You can overlap the bows or leave a small gap between them. It’s entirely up to you!

Step 5: Let it Dry

The final step is to let your masterpiece dry completely. Give the glue enough time to dry, ensuring that the bows are firmly attached to the cardboard. Once dry, you can display your Tissue Flower Number on a wall, door, or any other place that needs a burst of color and cheer. You can even add a ribbon or string to the back for hanging if you like.
