1.    Explore Your Backyard

So at least one a week you should suggest an outing to a local park. You can take advantage of local and national parks. Look up what amenities they offer like pools, fountains, and workout circuits.

2.    Go Bike Riding

Biking is a great way to explore the great outdoors, exercise, and have fun. And you can use it to do as a family adventure.

When you were a kid, it’s likely that you hopped on your bike and rode in the neighborhood in the summer. Although things are a little different now, bike riding is still a great way for kids to be active in the summer.

As with any outdoor sport, you should select the right equipment and basic understanding of the sport. This will be the key to a great adventure. When your kids go bike riding, make sure that they always wear a helmet.

5.    Swimming

Late spring and summer are two excellent times for your kids to start swimming.

Swimming is considered by many as one of the best fitness activities for kids to lose weight and tone muscles. When you swim, most of your muscles are called into action and you are actually having a full-body workout.

Furthermore, swimming also has an aerobic effect and so the heart and lungs are getting their dose of exercise as well. During the summer, your kids will meet friends at the pool and spend the day in the water.

Make sure your kids wear sunscreen, and that there is adult supervision. In fact, an adult can get in the pool, too, and teach the kids fun games like water polo.

6.    Jump Rope

Many kids used to spend a long time on the playground jumping rope. It can be done when school’s out, too! Regular exercise can help improve the quality of your children’s lives now and later on. It can help prevent diseases such as heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

Why not have a friendly neighborhood competition with other kids to see who can jump the longest or the most jumps? Kids can learn fun jump rope games like Double Dutch, and all those great jumping rhymes and songs.

First, make sure your kids stretch and warm-up before engaging in these fitness activities. And second, help your kids choose activities that are fun and active – not overly competitive.

If your kids like action movies, you should consider enrolling your kids in a martial arts class. Not only will they get the physical activity during class, but they will get exercise at home practicing their forms.
