Preschool crafts are a joyful blend of learning and play! And this Personal Coin Purse is the perfect project to help little ones explore crafting while creating something useful.
With simple materials, your preschooler can design a mini purse to stash pretend coins, tiny treasures, or even real change. This activity encourages fine motor skills and color recognition.
Whether it’s part of a money lesson or just a cute weekend project, this coin purse craft is a wonderful way to craft and learn.
Gather the following material:

I have include a list of available craft products
for your convenience:
2 colors of soft crafting felt (green-blue and pink)
2 colors of crochet threads (orange and green-blue)
a big sewing needle
a zipper body
a zipper slider
a pair of scissors

First, grab the green-blue crafting felt and cut out a large rectangle. Make sure it’s about 16 centimeters long and 13 centimeters wide. This will be the main part of our coin purse.

Next, cut a strip from the pink felt. It should be about 16 centimeters long and 5 centimeters wide. This pink strip will add a cute splash of color to our purse.

Take your orange crochet thread and thread the needle. We're going to use this to sew the pink strip onto the green-blue rectangle.

Now, place that pink strip right in the middle of the blue rectangle. The longer sides should match up. Sew the pink strip to the blue rectangle using a blanket stitch along its longest side.

Swap your thread to the green-blue crochet thread. This color change will make our sewing blend in perfectly with the felt.

Carefully attach the zipper slider to the middle of the zipper body. Be gentle so everything stays in place.

Fold the purse's body in half from the long side, wrong side out. Place the zipper along the top edge to measure how long it needs to be for our coin purse.

Make sure there's about a 1.5-centimeter allowance at each end of the zipper. Then, cut off any extra zipper we don't need.

Align one side of the zipper (the side without the slider) with the edge of the purse, making sure it's right sides together. Then, sew it in place with a small running stitch. Do the same for the other side of the zipper.

Sew up the sides of the purse to close it all up. Make sure you do this for both sides to keep all your coins safe inside.

Sew about 1 centimeter from each end of the zipper. This acts as a stopper for the slider so it won’t fall off.

Now, flip the purse right side out. Try moving the zipper back and forth. If it slides smoothly, you’ve done a great job!

Making a Personal Coin Purse is a preschool craft that blends creativity with independence. Kids will love decorating and using their very own mini purse for play or treasures.
